NASH: Nonalcoholic Steatohepatitis

Metabolic dysfunction-associated steatotic liver disease (MASLD) is the most common chronic liver disease worldwide. It is closely linked to obesity and type 2 diabetes, yet it often goes undiagnosed. International experts wrote the five-article Alimentary Pharmacology & Therapeutics supplement this programme is based on. It covers the global burden of MASLD, how insulin resistance and lipotoxicity drive the disease, non-invasive diagnosis and monitoring, and the role of lifestyle change and GLP-1 receptor agonists in treatment. It helps clinicians find at-risk patients earlier and manage them with evidence-based care.
